COVID Safe Plan for Clergy arrangements for the funeral of Very Rev. Fr Macarius Wahba

Dear Fathers, kissing your blessed hands and asking for your prayers. Due to the COVID-19 Stage 4 restrictions we have put together the following guidelines. Please see the points below and the arrival time of each father. Thank you Fathers for your love, condolences and support during this time. May the Lord repose the soul of our dear Father Macarius in the paradise of joy.

This page can be considered as the COVID Safety Plan to be shown to the police or any goverment officials.

  1. Please carry your COVID work permit, this will be sent to you via email to complete your details. Please carry the permit with you at all times incase you are asked by the authorities for the reason for travelling more than 5km

  2. Please locate your name on the list below and identify your arrival time.

  3. Please maintain social distancing at all times

  4. Please ensure you arrive with a mask on and please sanitise your hands using the hand sanitizers in the church.

  5. The church car park will not be available so that there is ease of entry and exit. Please park in the surrounding streets.

  6. On arrival please proceed to St John Chrysostom Church.

  7. When it is your turn to pray, one of the deacons will usher you to the baptistery through the door that leads to the baptistery.

  8. On entrance to the baptistry you will be given your section to pray.

  9. Once you pray your part and take the blessings of Fr Macarius please exit through the side door.

  10. Absolve us fathers, please proceed to your car immediately on exiting the church. This is based on directions from representatives of Victoria Police who have advised that due to the number of clergy that will attend that we need to avoid congregating outside of the service.

Other information regarding the COVID Safety Plan

  • Attendance is by invitation only for the clergy, deacons and family members as well as two people coordinating live streaming.

  • All details will be recorded and kept

  • Two attendance monitors from the parish will be stationed outside at the front of the church- Fouad Habashy (0404 886 346) and Wafik Eskander (0423 233 332)

  • At any point there will be no more than 10 mourners and those required to run the service as per the outlined schedule.

  • All attendees must wear a mask (spare masks will be availble incase any additional masks are required).

  • Hand sanitiser will be available at all entry points

  • Social distancing will be maintained at all times.

  • Temperatures of attendees will be taken prior to entry.
