Welcome to the
Golden Mouth Youth
Psalter Group
St John Chrysostom, the Golden Mouthed said about the psalms “ The grace of the Holy Spirit has so ordered it, that the Psalms of David should be recited and sung night and day. In the Church’s vigils—in the morning—at funeral solemnities—the first, the midst, and the last is David. In private houses, in the monasteries, in the deserts, where men converse with God—the first, the midst, and the last is David. In the night, when men sleep, he wakes them up to sing; and collecting the servants of God into angelic troops, turns earth into heaven, and of men makes angels, chanting David’s Psalms”
What is a Psalter Group?
A Psalter Group is a group of people who are dedicated to praying a number of psalms each day so that between the group all 150 psalms (the psalter) are prayed daily. A psalter group of 50 people means that each person prays 3 psalms a day.
Once a person signs up, they are allocated 3 psalms which they start on day 1. On day 2 they pray the next 3 psalms, on day 3 the next 3 psalms until the group concludes.
E.g If you are allocated psalms 37, 38,39 then you pray as follows:
Day 1: Psalms 37,38,39
Day 2: Psalms 40, 41,42
Day 3: Psalms 43,44,45
Day 4: Psalms 46, 47, 48
and so forth…
After finishing your 3 psalms you will then be asked to pray for each member of the psalter group by name using the Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on your servant (insert name)
Everyone is welcome to join the psalter group, you do not need to be a youth, just youth at heart :)
To sign up, fill in the form below and you will receive an email with an allocation of your psalms and a list of the psalter group members so that you can pray for them.
